Little Sapling

The young kitten curls up, somewhere north from here,

His mouth reps forty push-ups, from ear to other ear,

Mirror shows nothing has changed since a few months before,

Only looking deep within he knows there’s something more,

How can he raise it when he still needs to grow,

They’re babies making babies, with much he doesn’t know,

The bump is rising mountain-high,

Soon I’ll soothe you when you cry,

“It’s not just me having it, it is having me”,

It’s making me a daddy, a brand new thing-to-be,

Because you dear child are a symbol of the love,

Between man and woman and Hashem above,

You’ll bring challenges, you’ll bring joy,

You’ll be beautiful whether girl or boy,

The sun to my moon stares hard at me,

“We may have a little sapling, yet we are but a slightly bigger tree”.

We will grow by pouring, while it will grow by drinking,

I can’t wait to talk to you, to find out what you’re thinking,

You might be serious, fun, or even quite the joker,

All I know is I’m excited to meet you, and we are now one minute closer.
