At 3 in the morning, our electricity shut off. Shifra woke me up to go check the electricity box. I picked up the one that fell, and tried to go back to sleep. Fell again.
In the morning we were able to test it out (once I was awake enough). It turned out it was the refrigerator that was causing it. To bring someone in to look was about 300 shekel, and the fridge was about 5 years old (we got it second hand). We decided to just bite the bullet and get a new one. 4500 shekel later, we have a beautiful brand new fridge, and I believe the most expensive thing we ever bought for ourselves.
Tghen, a few hours before Pesach, our car wouldn't start. Roadside assistance came, and installed a new battery. 850 shekel later, and our car worked the way it should.
But here is the kicker. Less than one minute after we put the kids to sleep, Eitan comes running out of the room and tells us there was a noise and smoke coming out of their fan. I ran in, and heard another noise, and smelled the smoke still. I immediately took it out of the electricity. Thank G-D it happened right away and that Eitan was self aware enough to come let us know.
Rough week for our appliances.
I always think about a Ramban that I like that Rav Yishay taught us in Shiur Daled, that each person has a number at the end of the year that G-D decided you will have, which works well because he takes care of us to make sure each family has what they need. So when I got a raise at work this month AND more tax points for kids, I knew it was a matter of time before we had to spend it.
