A meaningful moment at teen minyan

First of all, we had a great discussion last week at us. The Shul needs more programming, and that doesn't work/ is not worth making work with out lives right now. They want 6 weekday activities a month instead of the current 2, plus teen minyan and groups etc. So we made a decision that we would step down at the end of the summer, and once they find new people to be youth directors. Will summarize this role later on, but am forever grateful for the opportunity to connect with our amazing youth.

2 weeks ago at teen minyan, there was a lot of talking, and even during the Mi Sheberach for soldiers and hostages. Rav Barry lit into them a little bit. The next shabbat, he reminded them, and you could have heard a pin drop. (BTW - I understand talking during davening when you are sitting next to your friend for and hour and a half, but pick your spots).

There was an event in Gaza this past week, where Barry's son was injured lightly and 4 of his friends were killed. He couldn't attend teen minyan because he was upstairs when his son benched Hagomel. Probably was emotional, I wasn't there. But he made a point to come down in the middle of our minyan, and say the following. "Thank you to all of us who made a commitment to give proper respect and Kavana during the Mi Sheberachs and Tefilla Lishlom Hamedina. I am convinced that this act of Kavana during davening saved my son's life, and prevented a much worse outcome."

Also of note this Shabbat, Eitan and Hadar came to shul at 9:15 and stayed throughout the whole thing. We had a fun friends shabbat with Baruch and Eitan and family. 14 people staying in our apartment, 6 adults and 8 kids. Baruch Hashem. Was amazing, love those people. So much fun.
